Greetings Women of White Oak, Hope all of you have had a wonderful summer, whatever that looked like for you - adventure, gardening, relaxation, or getting caught up on projects. For me, I’ve had to deal with a lot of “cancelled plans” since the beginning of June. Some that were heart breaking and others that were no big deal. It’s easy to shake off the no big deal events, but harder to accept why God would allow for really good plans to dissolve. How do you handle disappointment when things don’t go according to your plans? Recently, we sang a new worship song on Sunday morning called “Good Plans” which reminds us that whether we “walk through gardens or desserts”, God has good plans for us. We may not ever understand why life doesn’t go according to our plans, but we can trust in a loving Father who always has good plans in store for us even if they don’t feel good at the time. With summer ending, we look forward to returning to our normal Fall routines: wrapping up vacations, school starting, sending kids off to college, and prepping for “sweater weather” & everything pumpkin spice! As you settle back down into your fall schedule, I pray you will look at establishing healthy and beneficial routines. While getting back into regular exercise, and eating healthier again after all that fun summer ice cream, homemade fruit pies/cobblers, and rich vacation foods are good, the most important routine we can practice is getting into God’s Word everyday. Just like I make the bed first thing upon my feet hitting the floor in the morning, I read the Bible early with my first cup of coffee. Otherwise I am easily distracted by my to do list, or the retired hubby who wants to play a game of rummy before heading out to his shop 🤣 Rather than provide you with a list of books on how to establish healthy habits and routines, I will offer up a prayer for God to show you where and how you need to make changes to your daily behaviors &/or schedule. They say it takes 30 days in a row of repetition to create a new pattern in your life, so September is the perfect month to begin!!
