SuperNova: A Life-Changing Middle School Retreat Filled with Faith and Fun

Our Student Ministry just hosted SuperNova on June 23rd and 24th. This annual event is a middle school retreat that is hosted utilizing both of the White Oak Christian Church campuses. This year, we had 32 middle school students and over 20 adult volunteers come together and experience Jesus in a spirit filled, fun weekend that included worship, messages, small group time, service opportunities, and of course crazy fun games.

SuperNova challenged the middle schoolers to allow God to move boldly within them by building authentic relationships with themselves, their friends, and most importantly, with our Heavenly Father. Reinforcing the desire of God to have a relationship with us, and of course our nature of being sinners, needing to be shaken to the point of release of our worldly ideas, and understanding God’s purpose and plan for us.

SuperNova challenged the middle schoolers to allow God to move boldly through them with a very popular part of the weekend of servitude. Two different organizations were recipients of the White Oak Student Ministry’s service projects. Oxford Women’s Center and the Animal Adoption Foundation of Ross were both locations where our students really stepped up and served boldly. Cleaning, organizing, and most importantly, one anothering were the highlights of these moments. Visitors constantly asked us about our Shaken Shirts as we proudly explained the idea of being shaken like the church in Acts 4!

We are so grateful to White Oak Christian Church’s dedication to Student Ministry. The use of both campuses and their specific advantages are unmeasurable. Using the fields of Ross for recreation, the spaces of Colerain for Small Group Development are just a few parts of the amazing weekend known as SuperNova. Thank you White Oak for your generosity in this Shaken Season!
