WHY WE GIVE
God Went First, So We Give Our First and Best
“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be given to you as well.”
— Matthew 6:33
God is a giver. From the beginning, He’s given us life, love, and redemption through Jesus. We give not out of obligation, but as a response—bringing our first and best to the One who went first for us.
We Break the Vase—Because Worship Is Worth It
“She broke the jar and poured the perfume on His head.” — Mark 14:3
Some gifts don’t make sense to others but, they’re beautiful to God. Extravagant generosity is an act of worship. Like the woman who poured out costly oil for Jesus, we give not just what’s convenient, but what’s valuable.
We Give for the Sake of Eternity, Not Earth
“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth...
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven...”
— Matthew 6:19–20
We don’t want to build our own kingdoms—we want to build God’s. Generosity is how we trade temporary comfort for eternal impact. We give to see heaven come to earth and lives changed for eternity.
We Steward, Not Consume—It’s in Our Design
“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” — Genesis 2:15
God created us to be cultivators, not consumers. As people made in His image, we were designed to contribute to the flourishing of others. Generosity is one way we live out that mandate—it’s how we reflect the nature of our Creator, push back against selfishness, and bring life wherever we go.
Generosity Forms Us to Be More Like Jesus
“You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion... your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.” — 2 Corinthians 9:11
Giving isn’t just about funding ministry—it’s about forming hearts. Generosity shapes us into people of trust, humility, and grace. When we give, we grow.
It’s Not Ours—We Steward What’s Been Entrusted to Us
“Remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the ability to produce wealth...” — Deuteronomy 8:18
Our money, abilities, time—is from God. We’re not owners. We’re stewards. Our role is to reflect the heart of our generous Father by managing what He’s given for His purposes
We Buy the Field—Because the Treasure Is Worth It
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field... then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.”
— Matthew 13:44
When we truly see the value of the kingdom, nothing else compares. We give joyfully and sacrificially—not because we have to, but because we’ve found something worth everything.
